Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and ensheathes the other soft tissues). Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.

SEATED ACUPRESSURE MASSAGE

Seated Acupressure is a non-invasive treatment specifically designed for the back, neck, shoulders, the arms, hands and scalp. It is also known as ‘On Site Chair Massage’ and ‘Acupressure Massage’.? It includes specific massage techniques and acupressure pressure point techniques. Seated Acupressure the ideal modality for the busy workplace environment where employees can benefit from this quick and de-stressing treatment.? The client does not need to remove clothes and no oil is used. The seat allows the client to sit comfortably with their head resting forwards on the support.? The therapist uses their hands, fingers, thumbs and elbows to apply pressure to the specific acupressure and trigger points found in the individual.

The treatment helps to stimulate and balance the flow of energy throughout the body. In turn this stimulates the circulatory, nervous, muscular, immune and lymphatic systems whilst promoting release of endorphins and important mood-regulating neurotransmitters.
