WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?

I will require you to fill out a consultation form including medical history and conditions past and present. I will summarise the form to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed, and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. I will perform a postural assessment (Sports Massage) to evaluate your condition and to see if you have any presenting complaints.

It is important to list all health concerns and medications so the I can adapt the session to your specific needs. It is also important to list any allergies/conditions.

DO I NEED TO BE INTO FITNESS TO HAVE A SPORTS MASSAGE?

Anyone can get a sports massage, whether you actively take part in sport or not!

If you do take part in activity, sports massage before or after exercise can help to relieve aches and pains, enhance recovery and performance, and prevent injury.

However, it can be used as maintenance to maintain mobility and flexibility in muscles that are commonly used in everyday activities, such as walking, sitting and driving for long periods of time.

Sports massage can also be used as a rehabilitation tool for muscles and soft tissues that have become torn, stretched, or just ache. Rehabilitative massage can improve healing and reduce pain during the healing process.

Sports massage is often deeper and can invoke a feeling of being bruised the following day. This is due to the tissues being manipulated with a variety of techniques including stretching, compression, friction and trigger point release.

The primary purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds in the body as a result of physical activity. Physical activity may not necessarily be sport, it might be sitting at a desk all day or moving heavy boxes during a house move.

You will receive a postural assessment pre massage.
